Brave New World of Careers in the Age of Big Data

This item in today’s Financial Times (FT) foreshadows either a dystopian future of lives driven by predictive analytics or a bright new day when big day helps people be their best selves (and quite possibly it will be something in between). Regardless, what it does portend, without a serious doubt, is a future where today’s students and tomorrow’s professionals will need exceptional levels of data savvy, including in the use of inferential and predictive statistics.

For someone more at home with the importance of cognition and human agency, all of this (plus AI) may seem a bit Orwellian, if not Huxleyian, but it is happening and it is the world todays students will inhabit. What is your school doing to get them ready?
